Basic/Expert (B/X) D&D (1981) is a streamlined, classic edition of the game edited by Tom Moldvay and Dave Cook. It is famously divided into two boxed sets: Basic (levels 1–3, focused on dungeon crawling) and Expert (levels 4–14, expanding the game into wilderness exploration, domain management, and seafaring).

Key Features of B/X D&D:
• Rules Light, Creative Heavy: The rules are incredibly concise (fewer than 150 pages total). Instead of relying on rigid mechanics, it relies on DM adjudication and player ingenuity.
• Race as Class: Elves, Dwarves, and Halflings are treated as their own character classes rather than just races with stat bonuses.
• The "XP for Gold" Loop: You earn the vast majority of your experience points by recovering treasure, not by slaughtering monsters. This encourages players to be clever, sneak past threats, and avoid unnecessary combat.
• Wilderness Survival: The Expert Set introduces rules for hex-crawls, foraging, getting lost, building castles, and mass combat.

How to Play:
• Explore the Dungeon (Levels 1–3): Focus on resource management (torches, rations), mapping, and checking for traps.
• Expand to the Wilderness (Levels 4–14): Head out of the dungeon to map hexes, establish trade routes, hire mercenaries, and claim territories.
• Roll to Hit: Characters use a specific "To Hit" matrix or chart based on their level rather than adding modifiers to a d20 against an armor class.
• Morale Checks: Monsters and NPCs have a morale score. When combat turns against them, the DM rolls (2d6). If the roll is higher than the morale score, the monsters will attempt to flee, surrender, or negotiate.

Our campaigns will consist of various adventures tied to create long lasting campaigns which will help create "our own" Mystara & the Known World campaign setting.

We are always looking for more people that would like to join us that will be "dedicated" players & DMs.
